Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have taken one shot of Invega 100 mg and Lamictal 200 mg every day, and it completely killed my sex drive and libido. I am stopping the medication, and I am turing 18 next week. I was searching how to reverse it (other than stopping, that I certainly will), and I found a doctor saying that Wellbutrin would help because the sexual side effects are linked with low dopamine levels. Is this true? And if not, is there any other medication that can help me with this other than viagra?

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

You are just going to turn 18. So, why did you take injection Invega 100 mg (Paliperidone)? Since when are you taking Lamictal 200 mg (Lamotrigine). What symptoms you had, and for what was it prescribed? Yes, sexual side effects can be due to low dopamine level. You should take a proper consultation rather than just switching to viagra (Sildenafil). Which will inturn, worsen your symptoms. I can help you, if you will tell me about the symptoms and problem you are having and since when are you having this Lamictal 200 mg, and for what was it prescribed? Are you suffering from bipolar disorder? Even performance anxiety can lead to loss of libido and erection and can be totally treated by psychotherapy. Do not worry. You are still very young, you can get it treated, and recovery would be fast. I think you need some psychotherapy sessions to reduce your anxiety rather than any other drug. I would like to know more about your history of illness for which you are taking Lamictal. I am sure all you need is some psychotherapy, and no drugs are required to treat your libido issue and erection. Your testosterone level is also good, so you need not take any drugs for libido and erection.

Thank you.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
