Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I am a 39-year-old male, and I have vitamin D deficiency. My vitamin D 25 OH level currently is 4.9 ng/mL. As per my doctor's suggestion, I have been taking the Fenolip-145 tablet once daily for the past four months. In addition, I have muscle pain, problems with my teeth, and high cholesterol levels. My serum cholesterol level is 193 mg/dL, triglycerides are 343 mg/dL, HDL is 31 mg/dL, LDL is 104 mg/dL, and VLDL is 68.64 mg/dL. How can I improve my present condition?

Please give me your opinion.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I went through your query and understood your concern.

You have considerably low vitamin D levels. You have to improve it in any way. The symptoms you mentioned are due to low vitamin D3 levels. Also, your blood glucose levels are good and in the normal range. However, I suggest you to follow the instructions mentioned below,

1. Lower your BMI (body mass index) through weight loss. Your BMI should not be more than 25.

2. Maintain a healthy weight.

3. You need to take vitamin D supplements to raise the levels.

4. For cholesterol, I suggest you to change your diet and lifestyle.

5. You need to be physically active regularly along with medications to lower cholesterol levels.

6. Sources rich in omega-3 fatty acids and vitamin D, for example, fish like salmon is best for you.

7. Also, mushrooms and egg yolk are good vitamin D sources.

8. UVB (type-B ultraviolet) rays in sunlight help make vitamin D. However, use sunscreen lotions and sunglasses before going out to avoid the risk of melanoma or skin cancer.

I hope this has helped you.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
