Common "Dyspnea" queries answered by top doctors | iCliniq

Dyspnea

Dyspnea is referred to as shortness of breath. Sometimes it is called air hunger. Dyspnea can occur as a result of overexertion, spending time at a high altitude, or as a symptom of various conditions. If the shortness of breath occurs suddenly, it is called acute dyspnea, which is seen in asthma, anxiety, pneumonia, allergic reactions, and anemia. If shortness of breath is presenting for more than a month, it is referred to as chronic dyspnea. It occurs in cases of obesity, asthma, heart problems, and interstitial pulmonary fibrosis. Taking bronchodilators helps to provide some relief. Avoiding smoking and reducing weight helps a lot. In some cases, antibiotics are given if it occurs due to infections.
