Common "Hypersalivation" queries answered by top doctors | iCliniq

Hypersalivation

Hypersalivation, also called sialorrhea or ptyalism, occurs when the salivary glands produce more saliva than usual. It causes the spilling of saliva from the mouth. Acid reflux and pregnancy, infection, cavities, and exposure to toxins like mercury can cause hypersalivation. It is managed by taking oral medications that reduce saliva production, periodic Botox injections, and drinking plenty of water.
