Massaging techniques are of five types, namely effleurage, petrissage, tapotement, frictions, and vibrations. Effleurage consists of linking movements, petrissage comprises deep strokes given by fingers, heels, and thumb. Kneading, picking up, ringing, and rolling are the types of petrissage. Tapotement is used to stimulate and tone the area, whereas vibrations help in reducing pain and fatigue. Frictions are rubbing movements that are done on the skin surface.
