Metastasis

When cancer cells detach from their original developed site and spread to different parts of the body through the bloodstream or lymphatics and develop a new tumor at the new site, it is known as metastasis. But some cancers tend to metastasize only to some areas. Lung cancer tends to spread to the brain, bones, and liver. Breast cancer tends to spread to the brain, liver, lungs, chest wall, and bones. Prostate cancer spreads to the bones. Colon and rectal cancers spread to the liver and lungs.
