Common "Nasal Bleeding" queries answered by top doctors | iCliniq

Nasal Bleeding

Nasal bleeding is otherwise called epistaxis. It can occur due to nose picking, nose injury, blowing nose forcefully, cold and sinusitis presenting with repeated sneezing and coughing. Frequent nose bleeds can indicate a serious disorder like high blood pressure or a serious blood clotting disorder. Nose bleeding can be stopped by sitting upright, leaning slightly forward, and pinching both nostrils shut for 5 to 10 minutes. In severe cases, topical vasoconstriction, chemical cautery, electrocautery, and nasal packing are done.
