Papanicolaou test or otherwise called a Pap test or smear is the procedure used to collect cells from the cervix (lower part of the uterus). It is a routine procedure, where the tissue lining the cervix is gently scraped off. These cells are then tested for any abnormality, which might be indicative of cervical cancer.
