Parotid Tumor

Parotid gland tumor is the most common, type of salivary gland tumor. It is a slow-growing noncancerous parotid gland tumor, which gradually increases the size of the gland. Parotid gland tumors often cause painless swelling in the face or jaw, numbness, burning or prickling sensation in the face, unilateral muscle weakness of the face, difficulty in wide opening of the mouth, and difficulty swallowing. Parotid tumor treatment usually requires surgery to remove the tumor. Additional treatments like radiation therapy and chemotherapy are considered if the tumor contains cancer cells.
