Common "Penile Doppler" queries answered by top doctors | iCliniq

Penile Doppler

Penile doppler is a diagnostic ultrasound used for erectile dysfunction diagnosis. A vasodilator is injected into the penis using a small needle. This will help in relaxing the erectile muscles and dilating the penile arteries, thus increasing the blood flow into the penis, causing an erection. Using an ultrasound device, the erection is checked by measuring the blood flow in both penile arteries. The erection caused by this procedure may last up to four hours. The procedure is painless, but some people can feel discomfort and mild injection pain. Some may have a bruise at the site of the injection.
