Pericoronal Abscess

It is defined as the localized infection caused by the accumulation of inflamed dental follicular tissue lying over the crown of a partially erupted tooth. It is of two types- an acute periodontal abscess indicates pain, tenderness on palpation, and pus formation. While a chronic abscess exhibits a sinus tract and mild pain. The treatment mainly includes drainage of abscesses followed by cleaning of periodontal pockets and rinses with antiseptics.
