Salivary Gland Infection

Salivary gland infection occurs when the salivary gland gets infected with bacteria or viruses, leading to decreased salivary production. The causative agents are staphylococcus aureus, streptococcus pyogenes, mumps, herpes, and influenza virus. The other health issues causing the infection are sarcoidosis, dehydration, and Sjogren syndrome. The symptoms are dry mouth, inability to open mouth, and pain in the mouth and face.
