Common "Schirmer's Test" queries answered by top doctors | iCliniq

Schirmer's Test

The Schirmer's test is a simple procedure that helps determine if the tear glands produce enough tears to keep the eyes adequately moist. The test results are based on the amount of tears produced as measured on the strip of paper. This test confirms and determines the severity of dry eye and may also be used to diagnose Sjogren's syndrome. However, one of the drawbacks of Schirmer's test is that it does not always effectively diagnose cases of dry eye.
