Steatocystoma Multiplex

Steatocystoma multiplex is a skin disorder that causes the development of multiple non-cancerous cysts on the skin. It is caused due to mutations in the KRT17 gene. This gene is responsible for providing instructions in the body to produce keratin 17, which is usually seen in nails, hair, skin, and sebaceous glands. Individual cysts are removed by surgery, laser, electrosurgery, or cryotherapy. Inflammation is also reduced by taking oral antibiotics.
