But if there is metastasis, this cannot be very beneficial but certainly helps relieve symptoms and prevent other complications for the patient. Either the surgeon will conduct a distal pancreatectomy where only the body and tail of the pancreas will be removed or they will go for a total pancreatectomy, where the entire pancreas and additional structured will be removed.
