The technique of producing images of the organs and structures inside a female pelvis (uterus, vagina, fallopian tubes, ovaries, etc.) using a sensor producing sound waves is called pelvic ultrasound. It is performed using two methods, namely transabdominal (sensor is placed on the abdomen) and transvaginal (sensor is inserted in the vagina).
