Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I am 21 years old. My height is 5'11" and weight is 60 kg. I am pretty lean. I have an issue with facial hair growth. I am unable to grow a proper beard. It just does not grow, although when I look closely at the mirror there are some small hairs on the side. I have some prominent facial hairs only around the lips and some below the chin. Is this something to worry about? I have dense hair on my legs and my pubic hair is also normal. I also get good erections and masturbate once in a while. I have abstained for a while from masturbation, because I heard masturbating often can cause this problem. Could you please clarify it?

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com. You do not have any abnormality in hair growth. Hair growth varies between individuals and is influenced by genetics. Just because you have good hair growth on other parts of your body does not necessarily mean that you will have the same growth on your face. If the lack of facial hair bothers you significantly, it may be advisable to undergo a hormonal profile to ensure there are no underlying issues.

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor,

I would like a detailed analysis of the pictures I sent. Will the beard grow eventually?

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com. There is nothing to worry about. Give some time for those patchy hairs in your beard region to grow. I have seen your pictures (attachment removed to protect patient identity), and it appears that you may be one of those individuals who tend to grow a beard at a later age. It is common for facial hair to develop at different times for different people. It is important to have patience and not worry excessively about it. Given time, there is a good chance that you will experience an increase in facial hair growth.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
