Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I am having a fever, headache, and generalized body pain since yesterday. I consulted a physician. He prescribed me medicines and advised me of a blood test. My blood test report is attached here for your reference. Still, headache and fever are high sometimes.

Kindly give your opinion.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I have checked your blood reports (attachments removed to protect patient identity).

This is a dengue season. Though the fever and headache with body aches can often and most commonly indicate a viral etiology but a decreased platelet count of 1.39 is to indicate that vigilance has to be maintained.

  1. Watch for any reddish rash developing over the body and get platelet counts done every 48 hours to check for a decrease or increase.
  2. Drink plenty of oral rehydration fluids like ORS (oral rehydration salt) sachets and keep the fever and pain down with Paracetamol and have adequate rest.
  3. You need to be monitored and if the levels of platelet go below 60000, then you may have to be admitted to hospital as well, with a suspect of dengue.
  4. You may get a dengue screening done beforehand for its IgG and IgM (immunoglobulin G and M) antibodies to confirm the diagnosis.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
