Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Please could you tell me how fatal a liposarcoma is. It is not me who has the problem, but a family member.

Answered by Dr. Sadaf Mustafa

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

  • It depends upon the type of liposarcoma, site of origin, proximity to lymph nodes, size and depth of the tumor.
  • Properly excised low grade tumor followed by radiotherapy may have recurrence rate of 8% to 12%.
  • The five year survival would depend up on the questions above, but could vary from 50% to 100%.
