Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

My doubt is about brain power. Do people in engineering and other professions require a lot of brain power use mind altering drugs to enable them to compete better? Are people in these professions just naturally gifted? I am talking about the people who build automobile factories, aircraft, space shuttle and the international space station. Do such drugs exist to improve comprehension and memory? Please explain.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and understand your concerns. Although your question is somewhat hypothetical, but as per available evidence there is no such medication, which helps in increasing brain power. In fact, every one of us possesses some skills, which are above normal in contrast to the general population. For example, scientists have large frontal lobe in compare to their peers. Similarly, everybody has some distinct features that determine his or her career and ultimately success. As I said above, there is no such medication, but practicing particular skill sharpens it. For example, a mathematician doing math puzzles gets rewarded by increases in size and capacity of area dealing with mathematics. To conclude, yes, we are gifted. But, that is not the only thing. With repeated practice and rehearsal we get the increased skill of practice.

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor,

Is there anything to help with problem solving? Have you seen some of those nuclear submarines? They are so advanced. Also, the international space station is incredible. I just cannot see someone in their right mind building these things.

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

In regard to complex problem solving, there is the highest order of work division, which helps in accomplishing complex tasks. Although we get news that one or another person designed so and so, but in fact most of such advancements are results of dedicated effort by a number of persons. In other words, it can be stated that space stations and submarines which we see on current days are fruits of years of hard work by mankind. It will be justice to say that one or another individual with great thinking process develops the idea and people contribute to refine the idea. You are somewhat right in saying that someone in right mind can build such endeavors, but I think most of the people in such fields continue to think in the right direction and one day they develop an idea, which works as a milestone for human development. I mean to say that behind every successful activity there are hundreds of failed ideas. Thank you.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
