Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

As per last week eye checkup my eyes are 6/6, but doctor advised me to use 0.5 power glass for far distance while working on a computer or watching television. I am an IT professional. He told that sometimes my right eye did not match with the left so it is creating eyestrain. But, for second thought I went for another doctor he told to use 1.5 glasses for the same. So, what should I do now? As I went to first doctor in morning and second in evening so my eyes are very tired in the evening. Can tiredness be the reason for this difference. I do not want to make any wrong decision in this matter as I know if Istart using 1.5 then eyes will be in habit of that and then I have to use it for every time. If I do not use any, then power will increase. Currently, I am using Hyfresh eyedrop. Please help.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I have gone through the pictures of your old prescription (attachment removed to protect patient identity). It is mentioned that your vision with minus 0.5 glasses is 6/6 in both eyes. If you are able to read 6/6 without glasses clearly, then definitely there is no need to use glasses. While checking glass power, certainly there is some variation possible. But, minus 1.5 variations is unlikely. What you can do now is to wait and watch for sixNothing will months. happen even if you do not use (small power) glasses. So, no need to use glasses now. Get glass power checked after six months. If you are not able to read 6/6, then only can use glasses. Strain during computer use is common and you have to do some relaxing break. Close your eyes for few seconds every 10 minutes. Avoid rubbing your eyes. Use computers brightness to the least. You can use cooling drops if necessary. I hope this answer helped you, Thank you.
