Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I had unprotected sex with my girlfriend. But I have not ejaculated in her. Is there any chance for pregnancy? Some yellow substance was there on the tip of my penis. What is that?

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

The process you have adopted while performing sex is termed as withdrawal method. Though this is a commonly practiced method, there exists reason for failure. The cause is some of your sperms could be present in your precum that is some amount of clear secretion from penis before the ejaculation. It could cause a pregnancy. Contrary to your belief, no sperm will be present in the yellow deposit termed smegma. Finally, you have to consider in which day of her period you had sex. If she is in between day 8 to day 17 of her cycle, chances are high. Otherwise, there is no such apparent risk.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I have a doubt regarding I-pill. She has irregular period and cyst. We had intercourse at 7 PM yesterday and I asked her take I-pill by 10 AM today. Will it cause any problem?

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

No problem. She can take I-pill without any fear. These pills contains high hormone. Thus, it might cause some spotting, irregular cycle as well as there is a possibility of delayed cycle. But, these effects are temporary and gradually subside over a period of six weeks. If your girlfriend take the pill at 10 AM today, it is fine as it has to be taken within 72 hours of sex. Lastly, as your girlfriend has PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome), is she on any form of pills for that? If she is having now any such pills, she is already protected. Just enquire and if so, let me know through a follow up as these pills are already contraceptive pills.

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor,

She is not on any pills. She has her appointment with gynecologist. Will taking the pill be an issue if she has her checkup? For how long are the effects of pill seen on the body?

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

If she takes any I-pill, it will alter her inner hormonal profile and may face some irregular spotting or delayed cycle as explained before. Lastly, we gynecologists are accustomed with the patients having an I-pill and accept this as a better option than an unwanted pregnancy. This effect will last approximately for six to eight weeks or lesser. I suggest you to wait for one cycle of her, which is of regular flow and duration. This indirectly implies a get back or establishment of her regular hormonal profile.
