Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have an average menstrual cycle of 28 to 30 days. My last period was two months ago. I had sexual intercourse one month ago and took I-pill. It has been four days, and there have been no withdrawal bleeding or other side effects. When should I expect my periods? My expected period date is after a month. I would like to know if I will have heavy bleeding during the periods because I took I-pill before ovulation. Please help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Ideally, it is very difficult to determine the date of your next period if you have taken emergency pills in between because they mess up your normal menstrual cycle. Nowadays, some people get delayed periods while some get early or at the normal time. I-pill (Levonorgestrel) is not meant for regular use. They are just emergency pills and can disturb the normal menstrual cycle. Do not worry because the irregularities in the menstrual cycle resolve in one to two months, and you will have a normal cycle after that.

Thank you.
