Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I am 36 years old female, and I am married. I am suffering from prolonged and irregular periods. Periods stop and start again for a long time of almost months together. Before three years, I got PCOD problem, but now I have not checked and undergone any medical tests. I took ayurvedic medicines like Aloevera juice and Amla (Gooseberry) juice, but still, this problem persists. I cannot go to a doctor because of heavy periods. Periods are with cramps, and sometimes there is thin blood. I used to have two to three pads at a time. There is no pain. I have not got pregnant, and now I am planning for pregnancy. Can you please suggest some medicine? So that once it stops, I can visit a doctor.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

If there are heavy periods which is affecting your daily activities, then you need to pay attention to it and try to solve the issue as soon as possible. Heavy periods can give you anemia, dizziness, generalized weakness and other long-term symptoms as well. Start taking Iron supplements immediately. Have a full diet of Iron like carrot and apples. Have tablet Norethisterone 10 mg from day 4 to day 26 of every cycle for three cycles to regulate your periods and to reduce irregular bleeding and spotting. On the day two, you can have tablet Ponstan 500 mg (Mefenamic acid) and tablet Tranexamic acid 500 mg which can help to reduce bleeding from the day two to five. Have a healthy diet with low spice, salt, and sugar. Have one complete blood count, thyroid function test, and transvaginal scan and discuss here or with a local gynecologist.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
