Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am a 23-year-old female. I am facing issues with an abnormal menstrual cycle. And due to that, I missed my periods from last month. My last period date was before 82 days. I did take multiple pregnancy tests every time it showed negative. I do not know what is happening to me. Please help me out.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

If you are sexually active, then yes, pregnancy is a possibility; however, if you have been testing regularly for pregnancy so either you are not pregnant or you have not done the test correctly, if you are doing home pregnancy tests, I suggest you to take a blood hCG(Human chorionic gonadotropin) in your nearby health center.

Also, besides pregnancy, there are reasons like stress, hormonal changes, medications, intense workouts, etc., which can cause delayed or irregular periods. One other common reason is polycystic ovary syndrome which has signs like oily skin, thinning of hair, acne, unwanted hair on the chin, etc.

So as discussed above, please share the additional details I have requested for identifying the reason for your irregular menstrual periods.

Do not worry. I am always there for you.
