Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I went to an ER doctor last night as I had terrible migraines that were causing numbness to the right side of my face. I am taking Imitrex 100 mg and Hydrocodone pain medication for my neck and back pain, but no relief. Also, the doctor did not do anything. And I am in pain right now. Despite taking three tablets of Imitrex 100 mg and Hydrocodone pills, there is no relief. In addition, I have a C5-C6-C7 slip disk in the neck. Could this be causing the migraines? Again, the medications I take are not helping. What to do?

Kindly help.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I went through your query and understood your concern.

I suggest you to try changing your doctor and kindly consult a physician. However, I have a few questions for you,

1. Is the headache associated with nausea and giddiness?

2. Is the stool normal, constipated, or loose?

Also, I suggest you to follow the instructions mentioned below,

1. Lay down straight while sleeping.

2. Use a low cotton pillow.

3. Do not place your arm under the head.

4. Do mild neck exercises to strengthen the neck muscles and relieve pain.

5. Please do not take excessive medications you mentioned above as they have certain side effects that can harm you.

6. Drink plenty of water and fluids.

7. Avoid exposure to sun and heat.

8. Cover your head and take necessary measures to avoid triggering factors.

9. Keep yourself hydrated.

In addition, I suggest you to get an X-ray of the cervical spine to rule out cervical spondylosis and CT (computed tomography) head to rule out medical or surgical conditions. And get blood investigations, including a complete hemogram, blood sugar levels, blood pressure, thyroid function test, etc. Migraine should not be associated with numbness or is generally not associated with numbness. Online prescription for migraine can be suggested but kindly consult the specialist before using them. Make sure you get a dental examination and ENT (ear, nose, and throat) examination done to rule out any medical or surgical conditions. If the pain is very severe, go to the emergency room, consult a different doctor, and investigate. Also, get injectable medications instead of overdosing with painkillers.

I hope this has helped you.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
