HomeAnswersObstetrics and Gynecologymissed periodCan you tell me the reason for my missed periods after going through my thyroid and blood test reports?

Could the delayed periods in me be due to pregnancy or thyroid issues?

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I missed my period. The last was one month back, and I also have the thyroid and pregnancy reports. So I wanted to check if there is any issue.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read you query and can understand your concern.

Your test is negative for pregnancy, but I suggest going for a blood test to confirm this.

Get serum beta hCG levels done. If they are negative, we can be sure that there is no pregnancy. After that, we can give you medicine to induce periods.

Delayed periods can be due to several reasons apart from pregnancy. Yes, the thyroid is one of them, so get your thyroid profile done if not recently been checked.

Apart from this intake of any hormonal medicine, stress, and lifestyle changes can also lead to this.

So do not worry. Get your beta hCG levels checked so that further management can be done.

Hope this helps.

Thank you and take care.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

I read your query and can understand your concern.

Both these reports are normal (attachments removed to protect the patient's identity).

Continue taking the same dose of Thyroxine tablet, and nothing is to be done for the Prolactin tablet.

However, please consult a specialist doctor, discuss with them and start taking the medications with their consent.

Just get serum beta hCG levels to rule out pregnancy.

Also, one ultrasound for pelvic organs is required to exclude any pathology.

I hope this helps.

Thank you and take care.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
