Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

My last period was during the second week of last month. I had unprotected sex after three days of my period, and within 24 hours, I took the Unwanted 72 (Levonorgestrel) pill but now my period was due on the first week of this month, and it is already the second week, and I am six days late. It has also happened before, but I had cramps and white discharge as we get post periods, and after seven days, I got regular periods. Can I be pregnant, or can it be because of something else? My last period before the intercourse and pill was also two days delayed.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I fully understand your concern and will surely help you. Based on your ovulation and fertility window period, the chances of you getting pregnant are low. Also, you had the Unwanted 72 pill within 24 hours. That is a great thing you had done. The emergency contraceptive pills work best when taken at the earliest. So as per natural ovulation cycles and the medicine, your chances of getting pregnant are almost zero. But still, if you are worried, please do a urine pregnancy test with the first urine of the day for accurate results and share the details of your test. Most likely, you have a delayed period due to hormonal changes, stress, overweight, pregnancy, etc. You are slightly overweight (attachments removed to protect the patient's identity). Please try to reduce. Do not worry. Feel free to ask any questions. Eat healthily, sleep healthy, stay healthy. God bless you.
