Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am not getting my periods. It is already a week from the date. Previously nothing happened like this.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Usually, 28 plus or minus seven days is considered a normal length of the menstrual cycle. If this is the first time you had skipped your periods, I would advise you to wait for another week. If you still do not get your periods, you can take the following medication mentioned below for your withdrawal. For withdrawal bleeding, you can take tablet Meprate (Medroxyprogesterone) or Deviry (Medroxyprogesterone) or Primolut N (Norethisterone) or Regestrone 10 mg twice daily for five days and then stop. Wait for withdrawal bleeding within next 7 to 10 days. Also, keep track of your menstrual cycles. If this gets repeated, we need to evaluate it further, and please check your urine pregnancy test if you are a sexually active individual (or else you can ignore if there is no history of any contact). Exercise regularly, and avoid weight gain.

The Probable causes

Stress.

Investigations to be done

Thyroid Profile, Hemogram, Serum prolactin, Ultrasound Abdomen and Pelvis.

Differential diagnosis

Thyroid abnormalities, PCOS.

Treatment plan

For withdrawal bleeding- To take tablet Meprate (Medroxyprogesterone) or Deviry (Medroxyprogesterone Acelate) or Primolut N (Norethisterone) or Regesterone 10 mg twice daily for five days and then stop. Wait for withdrawal bleeding within next 7 to 10 days.

Preventive measures

Regular exercises, avoid weight gain.

Regarding follow up

To follow-up with the blood tests and ultrasound as advised.
