Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I got married six months back. On the 1st of last month, I had menses. This month, just before my period date, I had brown discharge and still, menses has not come. My pregnancy test showed negative, but nowadays, I feel little cramps in my stomach. Am I pregnant?

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

You have missed cycle, and have cramps and brownish vaginal discharge. Have you taken any hormones, medications, recent illness, crash diet, strenuous exercise, had thyroid abnormalities, abnormal hair growth, sudden weight gain, etc.? These all are the causes of delayed menses. Vaginal swab also needs to be sent to a lab. My advice is to have immediate serum beta hCG twice with an interval of 48 hours. If this beta hCG of the second reading is less than first, it could be a miscarriage, if the second level of beta hCG increased only less than 60 %, it could be pregnancy outside the uterus, but if beta hCG shows increase more than 60 % in 48 hours it is a healthy pregnancy. In case of dizziness, heavy bleeding, or pain immediately report to the hospital.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
