Hello doctor,
I missed a period and got a negative pregnancy test result. I had intercourse last month, and my expected period was due after five days, but I did not get any. I have irregular periods.

In your case, menstrual irregularities could be due to hormonal imbalances caused by PCOS (polycystic ovary syndrome). PCOS is an endocrinal disorder in which there is a hormonal imbalance due to a cyst in the ovary. Facial hair growth and weight gain might also be present. As it is a lifestyle disease, you have to change your lifestyle, eat a high protein diet with lots of vegetables and fruits and exercise regularly. Get your hemoglobin, HbA1c (glycated hemoglobin), and TSH (thyroid stimulating hormone) levels. There is no need to worry about it. You may take progesterone for withdrawal bleeding after consulting your doctor.
