Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have seen a change in the moles. One mole near my hand was always there, which has grown a bit. There is a new mole at the back of my thigh, which is big. I have attached the photos. Is there anything to worry about? Please help.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Thanks for the query. I can understand your concern. According to your statement, you have been suffering from two moles- one is on the hand and another on the thigh's back. According to the pictures (attachments removed to protect the patient's identity) that are provided here, they are looking normal and harmless. Moles are the skin growth and appear darker than skin due to pigmentation. They are flat and become raised over time. If they become larger than a pencil sharpener, irregularly shaped, contain various colors, etc., are the warning signs. Again, a changing mole is also alarming. According to your statement, your moles are changing, and then you can undergo a biopsy of the moles, and a biopsy will confirm everything, whether they are harmful or not. Take care. In case of any other query, ask me. Thank you.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Thanks for your response. The one on the hand has been there for years and just seems to have raised over the skin but not in size. The one on the thigh is absolutely new (or I have not noticed it so far) and feels a bit above the skin.

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

Thanks for joining again. As I have already mentioned in my first reply, moles may become raised over time like yours, and it is quite normal. Many people have 30 to 40 moles, some of them may disappear over time, and some may change in structure or appearance. It is normal. There is nothing to be worried about at all. When moles become larger abnormally than their usual size, then it will be a warning or danger sign. Your mole may change during shaving as it may get injured by the razor or blades. Again, your mole on the back of the thigh may get injured while scratching it with my fingernails. For that reason, that may be changed in size and shape. If you are still worried, then you can go for a biopsy, and a biopsy will confirm everything. Take care. Let me know if I can assist you further. Thank you.
