Monoarthritis

Monoarthritis is an inflammation of a joint characterized by joint swelling, pain, warmth, fever, periarticular erythema, joint stiffness, and total loss or decreased range of motion. The common causes of monoarthritis include crystals (i.e., gout and pseudogout), trauma, and infection. Treatment involves antimicrobial therapy, systemic steroids, anti-inflammatory drugs, and urate-lowering or uricosuric drugs.
