Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I have been experiencing persistent loss of balance for the past nine months. Please check my contrast-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) brain scan plates, especially the cerebellum part. Is the enhancement of the cerebellum normal or abnormal?

Answered by Dr. Vivek Chail

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I can understand your concern. From the attached reports (attachments removed to protect the patient's identity), the MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) scan of the brain shows a normal cerebellum. The image of the cerebellum shared by you is only a single one; and from what I can see, there is no obvious abnormality. Enhancement is the uptake of contrast in any area, both normal and abnormal. The enhancement in the image of the cerebellum shared by you is normal. It is important to look at your complete brain scan images because the loss of balance might be due to many causes, and a single image does not show the entire cerebellum.

Do get back if you have any further queries.

Thank you.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Kindly confirm if there is any mass or not since my doctor suspects that it may be a low-grade glioma.

Answered by Dr. Vivek Chail

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Glad to have you back.

The given image does not look like low grade glioma. If your symptoms persist, then you need to repeat the scan within six months to one year to know if any changes have taken place in the area of suspicion.

Wishing you good health.

Thank you.

Hello doctor,

Is it hyperintense on flair image? Kindly refer the uploaded image.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

The arrow is showing a hypointense area. It is not hyperintense on flair.

Please let me know if you have any further questions.

Thank you.
