Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have achy breastbone and ache towards the bottom of breastbone that goes across under my breasts and into my ribs on the right side. The ache comes and goes and seems to move around. It gets better with rest and laying certain ways. Taking no medicines. I am 29 years, 5'5", 160 pounds, female.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Does this pain increase on applying pressure over the area, if yes it could be costochondritis and it is a musculoskeletal type of pain and needs prolonged NSAID therapy? You will need to check vitamin D level and need to be on NSAID therapy. Overload and overuse, as during weight lifting, or pushing heavy objects, may lead to muscle strain as well. If possible, any activity that causes or exacerbates the problem should be reduced and/or stopped, at least temporarily. You should get Diclofenac gel for topical application. Also, you will need tablet Naproxen 250 mg twice a day for 1 to 2 weeks or longer or Ibuprofen, along with antacid like Pantoprazole. So you can get this prescribed. Do you have upper abdominal pain, nausea, bloating, burping, increase in pain on food, sour water feeling in throat or chest burning, if yes it suggests gastritis and acidity as a cause of pain?

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
