Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
My incisive papilla is swollen to a size of a pea for three days now. This is the second time it happened, the first one being over two years ago. I visited a doctor (not a dentist) the first time, and he asked me to bruise it with my brush and gave antibiotics and other medications to heal it, and it worked. Now it has happened again, and I want to know what to do. Can I do the same thing by popping it? Will it go away on its own? If so, how many days will that take? The swell was painful when it was little, but not anymore unless I squeeze it. I can squeeze it to some extent, and it inflates again. I am taking Amoxicillin. Please guide me.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
The size confuses me, and I am thinking of either a cyst or some growth. The reason is that in this region, normally, swelling is not so enormous. I suggest you continue the medications which you are already taking. In addition, I am suggesting a topical gel for local application, Metrogyl (Metronidazole) gel thrice a day for three days, and Dologel (Choline Salicylate and Lidocaine) thrice a day for three days over the area. Apply it and update me after three days if some improvement is there because that will confirm what further treatment could be required, like incision drainage, enucleation, excision, or marsupialization of the cyst. I suggest you get an X-ray. Avoid eating hot food on that side. I hope this was helpful.
