Patient's Query

I have severe pain in my neck, shoulder and upper arm. It reduces if I sit still but increases if I move around. It is particularly bad when in bed and wakes me frequently. It started about five weeks ago when I drove my new car for the first time - I was very tense! I went to a physiotherapist who just used a TENS machine for about 15 minutes. It was no better so went again a week later and that has made it much worse. My GP just says "it is nothing to worry about"! He has prescribed a very low dose of painkillers which are ineffective and I am now taking paracetamol. What might it be and what can I do to reduce the pain?

Hello sir Pain in the neck shoulder and upper arm suggest very neurological etiology or cause for the pain. can you raise your hand above your head? does it pain on even the slightest of the moment or does it pain at a particular angle? it might be something to do with your cervical vertebra. kindly get a xray of the cervical vertebra done to see if there is any shift or changes in the vertebra.

if any of the nerves exiting from the cervical vertebra are compressed or impringed upon then it can lead to pain in the neck shoulder and upper arm. is it the deltoid that is paining or is it the inside of the arm? you can use higher dose of analgesics to control the pain or I can prescribe the medication which can be used for neurological pain but that will be only symptomatic. you will have to find out the cause of the disease and treat it. do let me know if you need the medications.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
