Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am a 36-year-old female. My weight is 242 pounds, and my height is 5'4. I have been diagnosed with GAD and agoraphobia. My symptoms are severe. I am writing to receive medical advice regarding my hair. I suffered a severe psychotic breakdown a few years back, and my hair stopped growing. It stayed exactly the shoulder-length the whole year afterward. My bangs did not grow. I cut my hair the next year to see if I could better and if my hair would grow. My hair did grow about six inches. I had another less severe psychotic episode around two years back, and my hair started to thin and seemed shorter again. My hair has not grown at all since then. I am taking various supplements like Ginseng, Ginkgo biloba, Taurine, NAC, St. John's wort, fish oil, and Vitamins B, C, and D. I just started taking Zyprexa, Zoloft, and Seroquel. I would like to know what to do about my hair growth.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

It is sad to hear about your psychiatry problems, but in fact, any stressful mental or physical condition of the body leads to the alteration in hair growth, and thus hair thinning and hair fall can happen. So it is very important that you first treat your psychiatry condition. Do healthy exercises, eat a balanced diet, and take proper medication for any psychotic disease which cannot be treated without any modification in the lifestyle. So the first thing is to be stress-free. I hope you do not have any hematological alteration in the blood like decreased HB (hemoglobin), derangement in the liver function tests. If so, kindly show it to the medical expert who can advise you accordingly. For hair growth, I am advising you to take tablet Follihair. It comes in a combination of Biotin and Calcium Pantothenate. Second Minoxidil 5% solution, apply it over the scalp twice daily. Initially, there will be a hair fall increase because the weak hair they fall, then the strong hairs grow. After that, you will have good hair growth and follow this treatment and revert to me after four weeks. I hope it helps you. Be happy and healthy.
