Hello doctor,
What are the tips to distinguish nodular melanoma at home?
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
The most important warning sign of melanoma is a new spot on the skin or a spot that is changing in size, shape, or color. Another important sign is a spot that looks different from all of the other spots on your skin. One half of a mole or birthmark does not match the other. The edges are irregular, ragged, notched, or blurred. The color is not the same all over and may include different shades of brown or black, or sometimes with patches of pink, red, white, or blue. The spot is larger than 6 millimeters across (about ¼ inch the size of a pencil eraser), although melanomas can sometimes be smaller than this. The mole is changing in size, shape, or color. The other signs are sore that does not heal, the spread of pigment from the border of a spot into the surrounding skin, redness, or a new swelling beyond the border of the mole, change in sensation, such as itchiness, tenderness, or pain, and change in the surface of a mole such as scaliness, oozing, bleeding, or the appearance of a lump or bump.
Thank you doctor,
I first noticed this raised area where my right testicle transitions to the perineum about 6 to 8 months ago. When I noticed it, the color was brownish or black with what appeared to white interspersed. Since then, it has become slightly larger, and it is now a fleshy pinkish red. The position of the area makes it difficult to observe it definitively.
Hello,

This nodule is of long duration, along with color changes and slight changes in size. It would be best if you got it checked by dermoscopy. It is an imaging tool and can give an insight into whether this skin lesion has malignant potential. And further diagnostic and management plans can be structured after the dermoscopic evaluation.
