Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have back pain due to bad posture for almost a month now. Sometimes I wake up with numbness in my feet, which clears up after I change my posture. I also noticed a burning sensation in my feet, legs, and palms for the past one month, which started as my feet being freezing, then I noticed a burning sensation which lasted for about three to four days. I checked my blood sugar, thinking I have diabetes, and my fasting blood sugar was 82. I am so scared right now because I woke up to numb fingertips, which cleared after a while. What is happening to me? I am so confused. The first two times I had burning feet and legs, I took Neurovit forte, which contains vitamin B1, vitamin B6, and vitamin B12, and it stopped. What drugs can I take for this? Are there any explanations for what may be happening, or is it possible I lay down on my hand while asleep? My back pain can be really bad too, and it sometimes makes my arms weak. I recently bought a posture corrector, which I started wearing on my back last week. Kindly help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Sorry to know regarding your symptoms. These days, maximum people will have a bad sitting posture because of the work culture and watching television or laptops or phones. It is very rare to have diabetes or any no problems at your age, since the numbness goes away when you change your posture, it does not seem to be a nerve problem at all because nerve problems will stay no matter which posture you are in.

Yes, there could be some spinal cord problems which we can get at your age because of bad posture. Overweight but then that again cannot occur both in legs and arms together. So, the best way to rule this out will be to getting an MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) spine of the cervical area, and then we could concentrate more on what medication needs to be given after the reports.

Could you also tell me regarding your stress levels or anxiety levels? How is your mood daily? Are you able to concentrate on your work? Or are you able to sleep well and eat well, and do you get hungry? And do you engage yourself in Harveys or any other recreational activities?

For now, you can take tablet Neurobion forte, one tablet daily for 30 days every day with breakfast.

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor,

I am anxious almost all the time. I could not sleep a wink last night, I kept waking up, and my heart pounded each time I woke up until I calmed down. I do not eat much, but I eat well, but I have recurring reflux. I do not do much activities, could that be the cause? Should I start exercising? If yes, what type? The burning sensation in my legs feels terrible, and sometimes I feel pain in my big toe and pins and needles occasionally around my body, but it comes and goes. The last time I had pins and needles was when I was reacting to Amoxillicin three years ago. I am so worried about the burning sensation. Do you have any additional lifestyle advice apart from taking Neurobion forte?

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

Health anxiety nowadays is a part of everyone’s life, especially in this pandemic situation. So anxiety, when it reaches a level, starts interfering with your daily routine work, recreational activities, and sleep. We need to manage it with medication and lifestyle changes, obviously.

Coming to lifestyle changes, first staying occupied with activities like reading, playing a musical instrument, yoga, deep breathing, abdominal exercise, dancing, spending time with kids or pets, and going out for a walk help control the anxiety levels. Anxiolytics do help in controlling anxiety levels when it reaches disabling levels.

Start your day with a proton pump inhibitor (antacid) on an empty stomach. Take tablet Etizolam (Benzodiazepine) 0.25 mg at night or increasing it to two times a day is very beneficial. According to telemedicine guidelines, my apologies as this medicine cannot be prescribed by me until there is a video consultation.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
