Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
My mom has been dealing with major knee issues, and they are saying she needs replacement surgery. She is 67 and quite obese, and her doctor suggested she lose some weight before the surgery to get the best results. The problem is that she is not very agile and it is tough for her to move around much. What would be the best plan for her to shed some pounds?
I know exercise would help, but it is a bit of a challenge for her right now. We want to make sure she is in the best shape possible before the surgery. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Kindly help.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I read your query and can understand your concern.
Looking at your concern, exercise would help to shed some weight. However, in this situation, she can try eating healthy, low-fat food and food that can give her enough nutrition but does not lead to weight gain.
You have not mentioned if she has been suffering from any chronic illnesses like high blood pressure, diabetes, etc. If she is healthy and not suffering from such an illness, then she can go for a fruit diet and add more salad and veggies.
Going for a diet plan would be the only option for her.
I hope I have answered your question.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards.
