In obstructive sleep apnea, there is a blockage in the airway, which causes an intermittent stoppage of breathing. It is caused by intermittent relaxation of throat muscles, leading to loud snoring, headaches, daytime sleepiness, gasping for air, etc. Continuous positive airway pressure is the best treatment modality for it.
