Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

My daughter is 29 years old and six months pregnant. She is suffering from anxiety disorder and washes her hands often for no reason. We are trying hard by talking to her. What is your advice for her? Can she able to overcome this habit? Is it curable with medicines or other methods? I am thinking of taking her to a psychiatrist. His husband is working out of the station and so my daughter is always alone at home. Her other activities are normal. Kindly help my daughter during her pregnancy to overcome this habit. Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I can understand your situation and concern about your daughter.

She may have obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD). She needs to take medications. You should take her to the nearest psychiatrist. She will improve if she starts medications. I suggest she take a capsule of Fluoxetine 20 mg daily after breakfast, as it will help her. But you must take her to a psychiatrist for detailed evaluation and prescription.

Following investigations are suggested:

  • CBC (complete blood count).
  • Thyroid profile.
  • Vitamin B12.
  • Vitamin D3.
  • I hope this helps.

Please let me know if you want some help.

    Regards.
