Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

My daughter has recently been diagnosed with ocular toxoplasmosis. We do not know if it is congenital. She was born with strabismus in her right eye and now slightly in her left eye. She also has been diagnosed with vasovagal syncope. Is this all related? Should I have her checked by an infectious disease doctor? She has had EEGs, CAT scans, brain MRI, and laboratory tests reports which all have been normal.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern but it is difficult to find out that diagnosis when the baby is born. Kindly get IgG and IgM antibodies for toxoplasma so that we will know how long she has been infected and also get blood culture and sensitivity reports to give antibiotics and plan for treatment. As you said vasovagal and bradycardia are related more to strabismus and surgery. Kindly get to us with reports.

I hope this information helps to sort out your problems.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
