Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I had unprotected sex three days ago, and the next day I took a contraceptive pill. The day after that is yesterday. I had unprotected sex again and took another pill right after it. Is it okay if I do this? Will it help to prevent pregnancy? Please explain.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I fully understand your concern and will surely help you. These pills will work, but you will have to agree that the emergency contraceptive pills are hormone-based pills that should not be taken so often. Taking these pills often will lead to excess hormone accumulation in your body and may affect your menstrual pattern. Also, it can cause problems in a future pregnancy. I will recommend you to adopt regular birth control pills or barrier contraceptive methods like a condom. Two medications in such a short span will delay your next period, and you may experience light bleeding or spotting in the next ten days. As far as pregnancy is concerned, you are safe. Do not worry. Feel free to ask any questions or to share any additional information.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
