Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I am suffering from mouth sores, tongue sores, and ulcers.

Please help.

Thank you.

Hello doctor,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

There is a whitish-yellow spot on the left corner of the upper and generalized redness of the inner aspect of the lip. Your suspicion could be an oral thrush due to a fungal infection. I do not think it is due to a fungal infection. The most likely diagnosis is the canker sore or aphthous ulcers. Do not worry. It will heal within a week to 10 days. I would suggest the following:

  1. Antimicrobial mouth rinse or mouth rinses with Chlorhexidine. Do it twice or thrice a day for maximum effect.
  2. Buy mouth ulcer gel containing Benzocaine as an ingredient in the gel to get relief from the pain of the ulcer. Apply the gel over the lesion, spread it evenly over it, and spit it out after two minutes to get relief. (consult with a doctor, talk with him or her and take medicines with their consent).
  3. Take multivitamin B complex and vitamin C with Zinc daily, one tablet for a month.
  4. Try to brush your teeth carefully and maintain mouth hygiene.
  5. Take pain reliever tablet-like tablet Ibuprofen sometimes only if the severity of pain is intense.
  6. Avoid spicy and acidic food that causes further irritation and pain in the mouth.
  7. You can apply ice chips over the inner aspect of the lip and canker sore to temporarily relieve pain and irritation.

We will follow up in one week to see progress with the treatment regimen and guide you further.

Are there any symptoms related to ingestion, constipation, excessive gas formation, or bloating? If yes, please let me know about it, as it can flare up the mouth and gum symptoms that you are having now.

Take care.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
