Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I recently moved to a new state at 32 weeks pregnant. I have applied as a new patient for a couple of hospitals here in the new state. However, I am now 40 weeks pregnant and still have not been processed in any hospital. With me currently being at my due date and I still have no doctor, what should I do if I go too far past my due date? Should I be trying to figure out if induction may have to be a possible alternative if she does not arrive naturally?

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com

Thanks for reaching out.

I am sorry to hear that you are not booked still in hospitals. It is essential to monitor the baby and mother in the late third trimester. If it is already 40 weeks, you need to visit a doctor for at least a blood pressure, fundal height measurement, and fetal heart monitoring. You can wait till 42 weeks if you do not go into labor. Meanwhile, from 40 weeks to 42 weeks, you need to visit a doctor or birth unit to monitor the above mentioned parameters. It is very crucial to know how you and the baby are doing. Risks of adverse maternal-fetal outcomes are higher if pregnant women are not followed-up. I am assuming that you are happy with the fetal movements.

I hope this helps. I wish you all the best. Take care. Feel free to reach out with any further queries.
