Hello doctor,
I am 26 years old. I went to the gynecologist a few days back and she said that my follicle size is 8 mm and I will be ovulating in three days. I took an ovulation test after three days and it was negative. Why so? What if I ovulated early in the cycle?
Please help.
Thank you.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I have read your query and understand your concern.
It is possible that you ovulated earlier than expected, and that is why the ovulation test was negative. Ovulation tests detect the surge in luteinizing hormone (LH) that triggers ovulation, but the surge can sometimes occur suddenly and briefly, which means that you might miss it if you only test once a day. If you want to be more certain about whether or not you ovulated this cycle, you could try tracking your basal body temperature (BBT) and cervical mucus changes. Your BBT rises after ovulation, so if you see a sustained temperature rise, that can indicate that you ovulated. Additionally, your cervical mucus changes in consistency and color throughout your cycle, becoming more slippery and clear around ovulation. It is also possible that the follicle did not develop into a mature egg or that ovulation was delayed for some reason. In any case, if you are trying to conceive, it is generally recommended to have sex regularly throughout your cycle to maximize your chances of getting pregnant.
Thank you.
