Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am a 29-year-old and have pain in the left side gluteal region and left thoracic for the last three weeks.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I am sorry to hear about your pain. I would like to know a few more details to give you my assistance. When is it that you have more pain? Do you have pain lying down on a bed at night? Do you have pain walking? Do you have pain while sitting? Do you have pain standing up from a sitting position? Is there any radiating pain down your thighs and leg? Do you have any numbness? Did you have any fall? Do you feel like vomiting when you get pain? Is it a continuous pain, or does it come and go? Do you have a fever? How is your appetite? Does your job involve prolonged sitting or traveling? Have you done any blood tests? Do you have any other X-ray? Please answer these questions and get back to me.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Thank you for the reply. While sitting, pain in the left gluteal region radiates towards the left anterior ribs. I feel the pain is more prominent on the left side than on the right side.

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

Pain in the gluteal region radiating to ribs is unlikely due to a spinal problem. Your X-rays (attachments removed to protect the patient's identity) are essentially normal. Since you have no pain while doing the other activities, it would be better if you do a USG (ultrasonography) of the abdomen to find out the cause. Exercises to strengthen your back muscles can also be of some help. Get well soon.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
