Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

About three weeks ago, I fell on a very hard ceramic floor. Even though it does not hurt while walking, I have excruciating pain when I touch my left knee. I even get a burning sensation. Every time I kneel, it is extremely painful. The spot that hurts is on the front of my left knee, a few inches under my kneecap. Could I have broken something and not known it?

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

It looks like there are two possibilities.

1) Undisplaced fracture.

2) Haematoma under the periosteal sheath, and it can be very tender too.

If this is a fracture, then soreness will remain for over a week, and you will have more pain during weight bearing. Ice the sore areas 10 to 15 minutes for five to six times a day. Rest the part and avoid kneeling and overbending. Give it a week; if not getting better, get an X-ray.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
